Black Pearl's Calcifer Our black and white 2009 colt out of SD Rebel and DJ Lacroix. CONGRATS to his new family!
Clononeen Kinsale
Kinsale is a big mare. She is about 15 hands. She is very quiet. And just beautiful. She is very smart and loves children. When she has a young one on her back her whole way of walking turns extra gentle. She was imported from Ireland when the Clononeen farm was living there. She was trained under saddle by Old Mill farms and they had only good things to say about her. While she was there she even charmed the movie actor Charles Dutton. He was going to purchase Kinsale but lucky for us decided to go with an even bigger horse. Kinsale is living with a nice family in CA. We miss her dearly but had to let her go to further our breeding program. She is registered with the GVHS#GV00148F.
Black Pearl's Cornelius
Cornelius was born on our farm in 2005. He is registered with the GVHS GV01059F1. His dam is Clononeen Kinsale and sire is The Headliner. Cornelius was very tall just like his mother. When he left us at 2 yrs he was taller than Kinsale and it seemed like he was still growing. Cornelius was our first foal and we had alot to learn with this one. He was into everything and always wanted to be where the people were. When he was born he refused to eat so I was up all night feeding him from a syringe. I was terrified that he would not get enough IGg. It was so hot and with him not wanting to feed from mom he got behind on the fluids. The vet got to the house first thing in the morning and hooked him up literally. An I.V. was started and I was out every 2 hours giving him fluids and antibiotics along with yogurt. The vet also milked poor Kinsale and put a tube to Cornelius's belly and gave him milk. I don't think that Cornelius liked that much so started to put alittle more effort into suckling. About 2pm he got a hang of the eating on his own and everything went ok. Along with Cornelius having drama Kinsale decided to retain placenta. The vet walked me through how to remove it on the phone. I got it out with just alittle tug and when the vet arrived he also gave her a washing to be sure nothing remained. For the first time birthing a foal I had crash course but fell in love with the breeding/birthing thing. Cornelius is also living in CA with his mother Kinsale. He was trained undersaddle by Edoras Stables. We were in AZ this spring and missed seeing Cornelius and Kinsale by 1 day. They left the day before we arrived. We were sooo bumed.
Here he is with his little I.V. wrap.
Here he is feeling better. Soaking in the sun.
Cornelius and Rebel meeting for the 1st time.
